CARTI Receives $5,000 Check towards Heat the Seats Campaign from Arvest Foundation

The CARTI Foundation accepted a $5,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation. The donation benefits the Benton Heat the Seats Campaign, which will fund the purchase of 10 heated infusion chairs that will elevate CARTI’s cancer treatment services in Saline County.

“We are incredibly grateful to our friends at the Arvest Foundation for this generous gift,” says Mallory Van Dover, CARTI Foundation vice president of major gifts. “This donation is a testament to the Saline County community and their support of their fellow neighbors living with a cancer diagnosis. These funds will allow CARTI to not only provide the most leading-edge cancer treatment, but also create a more comfortable patient experience.”

The check was presented by Phillip Partain, Arvest community bank president, and accepted by Van Dover and Karen Danhof, a CARTI patient and the Heat the Seats Campaign lead.

The Benton Heat the Seats Campaign launched in January 2019. The goal of the campaign is to purchase 10 recliners with heated seats for patients to sit in while they receive chemotherapy at CARTI in Saline County.

Importance of Heated Seats:

  • Physically, the heat comforts the body, making it more comfortable to sit for hours at a time while receiving treatment. Many infusion medicines make the body feel cold, so the heat counteracts that.
    • Most infusions last two to five hours, and some patients receive treatments multiple days per week. Heated infusion recliners provide a crucial step forward in the patient care process.
  • Emotionally, which can be even more important, the patient is able to relax, creating a better environment for healing.
  • The chairs can recline and have four different heating elevations
  • The design and construction of these heated infusion recliners will ensure a better patient experience, resulting in warm, comfortable, spacious support during hours-long treatments.
